Intensive therapy blocks can be offered for up to 18 x 1 hour sessions over 6 weeks. By involving parents, carers and family members in the therapy sessions, Bobath ensures that treatment is carried over into everyday life. We aim to complement local therapy input and co-ordinate therapy aims and management. We therefore invite each child’s community therapist(s), nursery and school staff and other professionals involved in their care to join in some of the Bobath therapy sessions.
We will contact community therapists prior to attendance at Bobath Scotland for a block of therapy, allowing us to establish progress, discuss any concerns and consider these factors when planning therapy aims.
Families can be referred for therapy through the NHS or can self-fund (self funding guidance here).
Regular therapy is not normally offered to families and children on its own, but rather in addition to intensive blocks of therapy. Regular therapy is offered on the basis of clinical need and therapists’ availability. It is offered at a subsidised rate to families at £60 per therapist per hour. Clinical aims for therapy and payment for sessions must be agreed in advance.
