In October 2010, Bobath Scotland held its inaugural Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, running the campaign “Fill Your Boots for Bobath” to encourage supporters to raise awareness and funds throughout the month with various welly-themed events. For 2011, we were determined to widen the scope of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, getting even more families, schools and businesses involved.
We focused on schools and nurseries, asking them to help by allowing pupils or staff to pay to wear wellies for a day or by hosting welly races, welly walks or welly throwing contests. Staff at Bobath Scotland even held their own welly-themed coffee and cakes morning for the second year in a row, featuring the South African welly boot dance, a welly lucky dip and pin the welly on the donkey.
